Imagine a regular Monopoly game but for GCSE History revision!

Rules of the Game

  • Buying Property: Just like normal Monopoly, when you land on an unowned property, you can buy it with money.

  • "Rent" is a GCSE History Exam Question: This is the big difference! If someone lands on a property you own, they don't just pay you money. They have to answer a history question first.

    • The game provides "GCSE History Exam Questions (AKA rent)" sheets.

    • These questions are usually about the USA.

    • For example, they might be asked to "Explain why the Montgomery Bus Boycott was a success".

  • Still Pay Money: Even if they answer the question correctly, they still pay you the monetary "rent" that's listed on the property card. The question is just part of the "rent" process. If they get it wrong, they might have to pay extra or face another penalty (depending on your house rules)

  • Building Castles: Instead of houses and hotels, you build different types of "castles" on your properties (like "Motte and Bailey Castle" or "Concentric Castle"). Building these makes the monetary "rent" (and likely the associated question) more expensive/harder.

  • Community Chest/Chance: These cards also have historical themes. For example, a "Community Chest" card might say "It is 1337 and the Hundred Years War begins. You must increase the size of your army. Pay £30". A "Chance" card might say "GET FREED FROM THE TOWER OF LONDON".

  • Money: You use special Monopoly money with crowns on it.

  • Winning the Game: The game ends when only one player is left with money and properties. This player is the winner!

In short: It's Monopoly, but when you owe "rent," you also have to answer GCSE history questions before paying the money!
